The results of this year's HSC and equivalent exams, which were canceled midway, are expected to be released between October 15 and 17. The education boards have proposed these dates to the government, and the official date is expected to be confirmed soon.
Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, shared that they hope to finalize the result release date shortly.
Due to the cancellation of some exams, the results will be based on the marks from the SSC or equivalent exams through a process called subject mapping. For subjects that were already examined, the answer sheets will be evaluated and results will be published. For the remaining subjects that were not examined, results will be calculated based on the SSC marks in those subjects.
The decision to cancel the remaining HSC exams came after protests from students who gathered at the Secretariat in August, demanding that the exams be stopped. The HSC exams, which started on June 30, were disrupted after only seven exams due to the student movement demanding quota reform in government jobs.
The unrest grew, and eventually, the government led by Sheikh Hasina was overthrown on August 5 due to the protests. Initially, the remaining exams were rescheduled for September 11, but many students continued to protest, urging the cancellation of the exams altogether. Following the protests, the remaining exams were officially canceled.
Now, the HSC results will be published based on the policy of subject mapping, considering the SSC marks for subjects that were not tested in the HSC exams.
