The Inter-Education Board is preparing to release this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exam results, with the expected announcement scheduled for mid-October. This follows significant disruptions caused by protests and political changes.
The exams, which began on June 30, faced major interruptions due to ongoing protests for government job quota reforms and the collapse of the Sheikh Hasina government in August. As a result, only 7 out of 13 subjects were examined. The Ministry of Education decided to cancel the remaining exams and use a subject mapping system to finalize results for the canceled subjects.
Board sources indicate that the evaluation of completed exams is nearly complete. A proposal for subject mapping has been sent to the Ministry of Education for approval. Once approved, the exact date for the results will be confirmed, with a tentative release in mid-October.
Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Coordinator of the Inter-Education Board and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, stated, "We are ready to release the HSC results by mid-October, but the final decision depends on the Ministry of Education’s approval of the subject mapping system."
Originally, exams were progressing smoothly until July 16. However, due to the quota reform protests, exams scheduled for July 18, 21, 23, and 25 were postponed. The situation worsened with the government’s fall on August 5, leading to further postponements and eventual cancellations of the remaining exams on August 20.
This year, 14,50,790 students participated in the HSC exams across nine General, Technical, and Madrasa Education Boards. The subject mapping system aims to ensure a fair assessment despite the challenges faced.
