The HSC and equivalent exams for Sylhet Education Board began on July 9. The exams were delayed from June 30 due to heavy rains and landslides. Although the flood situation has improved, parents are still worried.
Many students had trouble studying because their homes were flooded. Parents fear their children might not perform well in the exams. Some exam centers in Sylhet were still underwater the day before the exams. Sylhet's Dakshin Surma Government College and Balaganj DN High School had floodwater around them.
Officials said there is no water in the exam halls of South Surma College, so the exams will continue there. However, Balaganj DN High School’s exam will be moved to Balaganj Government College because of the water.
The exams in four districts of Sylhet were postponed until July 8 due to the floods. They were originally set to start on June 30. Professor Arun Chandra Pal, Controller of Examinations of Sylhet Education Board, said the flood situation has improved. There is water around some centers but not inside.
The authorities are ready to conduct the exams starting today.
