HSC candidate killed in Tangail road accident

A college student was killed as a covered van hit the motorcycle carrying him at Sakhipur-Shohorgopinpur road in Debolchala Altar intersection area under Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Roni Ahmed, 17, son of Abdul Latif, resident of Chotochaon village in Sakhipur upazila. He was a HSC candidate in Borchaona Kutubpur College.

Quoting the locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sakhipur Police Station Sheikh Shahinur Rahman said Roni was going towards his home in Sakhipur on a motorcycle on Sunday morning. When he reached Debolchala Altar intersection area, a covered van of a cement company hit the motorcycle carrying Roni, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Roni was taken to Sakhipur Health Complex in critical condition. As his condition was critical, he was transferred to Enam Medical College in Savar where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

OC Shahinur Rahman also said that they have detained the driver of the covered van. However, the body was handed over to their families as there was no complaint from the family of the deceased.
