A month long vaccination campaign on HPV (Human Papillomavirus) has been going on in Sadullapur Upazila like other areas in the district since October 24.
Official sources said upazila health department has fixed up a target to provide HPV vaccine to 13,000 girls aged 10-14 who are studying in grade 5 to 9 in the upazila.
The girls who are out of schools would be brought under the campaign, sources said, adding that as many as such 500 girls had been selected so far.
On Thursday, upazila health department held a vaccination camp at KM Govt. Girls' High School, Sadullapur.
UNO Kaosar Habib attended the camp as the chief guest while upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondal presided over the ceremony.
It was attended, among others, by medical officer Abu Bakar Siddique, upazila secondary education officer Abul Hossain, upazila primary education officer Khairul Islam and sanitary inspector Golam Rabbani.
Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondalin asked the girls to take vaccine without any fear as the vaccine would help protect them from cervical cancer during lifetime.
Kaosar Habib urged all concerned to be careful to make the vaccination campaign a grand success in the upazila to build healthy women folk and healthy nation.
