Police on Saturday noon recovered the body of a woman aged around 21 years, who allegedly strangled to death by her husband, at their rented house, located at Kathgora area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
The deceased was identified as Brishty Akhter, 21, wife of Asadul Islam, hailed from Taljanga village under Tarail police station of Kishorganj district. Brishty and her husband worked at a readymade garment factory in Ashulia.
Confirming the matter, Tanim Hasan, SI of Ashulia police station said they sent the body to Shahid Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after recovered, and deceased’s husband still on the run since the incident took place.
“The woman might be strangled to death by her husband on Friday night following their family feud as per deceased’s family claim, and we also found multiple torture sign-on deceased's body, however, police investigating into the matter; the exact reason of her death would be known after getting the autopsy report”, he added.
Gulbahar, the landlady of the house, where the deceased lives, said on Saturday morning Brishtry’s brother comes to them and said Brishty has been killed, later they found Brishty lying down on the floor.
“They took a room at our house in rent two months earlier, and we did not notice anything unusual or any feud between them till today”, Gulbahar added. Quoting the deceased’s family, Hasan the SI said Asadul, husband of the deceased strangled Brishty to death and later fled from the scene locked the body into the room, as well as informed about the incident to decease’s family over phone calls.
