A prompt step by Rajshahi Police Superintendent has saved a housewife from the hands of traffickers at frontier village Char Asariadaha under Godagari upazila on Thursday (24 Feb) afternoon.
Santaton Chakravarty, Additional Police Super(Crime) of Rajshahi informed the rescued housewife has been identified as Munni (30), wife of Younus Sheikh and daughter of Osman Sarker of village Madhab Laxmikol under Rajbari sadar upazila.
According to sources, responding to a tip off, Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police station Kamrul Islam alongwith ASI Russel Islam from Premtali Police out station conducted an operation at remote village Char Asariadaha and rescued Munni from the hands of traffickers. Sensing the presence of police, traffickers managed to escape.
Rescued housewife Munni informed her husband works as a migrant in the ME. They have a six-year aged child. She developed a relation with one Ismael of West Bengal of India through Whatsapp and she was lured to visit India by Ismael through the frontier route of Char Asariadaha village illegally.
Munni further said she wanted to go to Ismael of India through a local agent but police arrested her during crossing the border at Char Asariadaha.
Kamrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Godagari PS informed rescued Munni has been handed over to her parents at Rajbari sadar upazila on Friday. Police were trying to arrest the traffickers, he added.
