A housewife was killed over a family feud at Ulipur upazila in Kurigram on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Umme Kulsum, 35, wife of Shamsul Haque, resident of Kishorepur Bakshipara village under Thetrai union in the Upazila.
Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakkar Siddik confirmed the matter.
Police and local sources said that Umme Kulsum had a quarrel with Amena Begum, the wife of her husband’s brother, on Saturday. Later, Amena Begum along with her mother and sister started beating Umme Kulsum following the family feud, leaving her injured critically. The injured was taken to Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Ulipur Police Station OC said the body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy on Sunday. One of the accused was detained in the incident. Police are trying to nab the other accused.
