An influential person has been accused of constructing a house by lifting the RCC block of the connecting road of Girder Bridge constructed at a cost of Tk 4 crore in Tarash of Sirajganj. The accused is Shipon Ali, son of Ayub Ali of Kundair village in Saguna union of the upazila.

Tarash Upazila Engineer Iftekhar Sarwar of the Department of Local Government Engineers filed a general diary against the influential Mohammad Shipon Ali at Tarash Police Station on Tuesday night seeking redressal of the incident.

According to the Upazila Engineers Department, in 2021, the Local Government Engineers Department constructed a bridge from Kundil Board Office of Saguna Union on Baruhans Vaya Pratirampur Road at a cost of Tk 4 crore.

At present many people are building houses around the bridge. In its continuation, the influential Shipon Ali of Kundail village adjacent to the bridge has illegally eroded government resources for several days to remove the RCC block of the road connecting the bridge. By removing the approach block of the bridge, the soil of the approach of the bridge has come out. As a result, the bridge built at a cost of Tk 4 crore is in danger of collapsing.

Tarash Upazila Engineer Iftekhar Sarwar Dhruv said the bridge has been constructed using government-funded approach RCC blocks to prevent the bridge from collapsing or collapsing due to coral waves at the expense of government funds. But now the influential Shipon Ali is trying to make his home by lifting the approach RCC block in place of the bridge. by removing the block, the soil has come out. The bridge is likely to collapse due to the rising water level in the coming monsoon season.

Defendant Shipon Ali said, “I have some space with the bridge. I picked up the RCC bulk of the bridge to go home. I will repair it later when the house work is done.”

Tarash police inspector (investigation) Mohammad Noor Alam said police would be sent to the spot to protect government property and immediate action would be taken.
