Under the government's shelter project, in the fourth phase, land and houses will be handed over to 277 homeless families in 4 out of 5 upazilas of the district. Among them, 35 houses will be distributed in Rajbari Sadar upazila, 2 in Golande, 120 in Baliakandi and 120 in Pangsha upazila. So far 2399 families have been rehabilitated.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over these houses next Wednesday (March 22). Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will declare Rajbari Sadar, Pancha and Baliakandi upazilas as 'A' class landless and homeless free upazilas. Earlier, Kalukhali upazila was declared as landless and homeless free upazila.
Rajbari District Commissioner Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Qaiser Khan gave this information in a press conference organized at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday (March 20) at 11 o'clock.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Suwarna Rani Saha, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Jayanthi Rupa Roy, Revenue Deputy Collector of District Administrator's Office Rafiqul Islam, Vice President of Rajbari Press Club Kazi Abdul Quddus Babu, General Secretary Khandkar Abdul Matin, were present in the press conference.
