What a birthday gift for Najmul Hossain Shanto on his birthday, when the Tigers grabbed a historic 10 wickets victory over Pakistan on Sunday.
What Shanto could have asked for anything better from his team, it was absolutely brilliant efforts of the Tigers in all departments and ended the match with an outstanding performance.
Bangladesh are the first team to beat Pakistan in Pakistan by 10 wickets and that was a sensational stuff. Tigers finally broke the winning draught against Pakistan in Test cricket with the overwhelming 10 wickets victory at Rawalpindi Stadium.
The most coveted and a long awaited victory against Pakistan in Test cricket finally came after 22 years when both played their first Test match in 2002.
Bangladesh played 13 matches and suffered defeat in 12 and could draw one match, when Pakistan dominated over Bangladesh in the almost all the previous matches but the Tigers had full control in the 14th match at their home soil.
Bangladesh enjoyed the placid conditions out there and they ended up with an exciting fashion, for them it was more like a combined effort by their batters, however, the star of the show was Mushfiqur Rahim with the bat and Mehedi Miraz and Shakib with the ball played key role.
Mushfiue played one of the finest knocks in his career, though missed his double century after getting out for 191 runs.
This game just came to life on the last day, till then, it was moving along at a very slow pace. It was Pakistan who were inserted and they put up a really good score despite being in trouble early on. After the batters Mushfique,Shadman, Litton Das, Mominul contribution, allround performances from Mehedi Miraz, bowlers did what expected from them to script the way of the victory to take an unassailable lead in the series.
The next game is a must win for Pakistan at least to draw the series and an opportunity for the Tigers to make another history with winning the series against Pakistan, second Test will begin on the 30th of August.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, in his immediate reaction said it was a very special win. Adds they have never won here and he is pleased they could do it. Tigers’ captain mentioned that they had believe in themselves and worked hard for this triumph. Shanto gave credits the bowlers for the way they bowled when they (bowlers) skittled out Pakistan for 146 in the second innings and appreciated the batters for the way they played and he expected that they would continue this form with keeping up the momentum.
