‘Hilsa catch surpasses all past records’

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur Atul Sarkar said the recent success of Hilsa fishing has surpassed all past records due to various government programmes. He said the success of Hilsa fishing this year was due to the sincerity, honesty, devotion and strict application of the law. 

The DC made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the District Task Force Committee on Hilsa Resource Development on the occasion of Mother Hilsa Conservation Campaign on Sunday. The Deputy Commissioner said, This success of Hilsa fishing has come through management mentioning that there is no substitute for joint efforts for unimaginable success in Hilsa production. DC Atul Sarkar said, "We are showing success in bringing back the endangered fish. Our scientists have succeeded in bringing back the Bengali fishes. We need to make maximum use of limited resources in our small country”, he added. 

Those responsible for the protection of fisheries resources will perform their duties completely independently. Those who obstacles the development of the country, development of fishery resources, obstacles the formidable success of our nutrition and non-vegetarianism will not be spared.

The meeting started at 11 am in the conference room of the district administration. During the meeting, it was mentioned that during the main breeding season of Hilsa from October 14 to November 4, all kinds of fishing including Hilsa will be prohibited for 22 days. Before October 14, each fisherman's family will be given 20 kg of VGF rice. Deputy Director of Local Government Md. Moniruzzaman, District Fisheries Officer Md. Monirul Islam, District Animal Resources Officer Dr. Nurullah Md. Ahsan, Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Bijan Kumar Nandi and others were present at the meeting.
