The university administration has decided to form a committee to identify those involved in placing a hijab on the female figure of the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University on Sunday night.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Bangladesh Post anonymously, several masked individuals arrived on motorbikes and quickly draped a black hijab over the statue before leaving the scene. However, their identities remain unknown.

Sources indicate that an investigation committee comprising five members will be formed by Monday night to ascertain who executed the act and the motivations behind it.

Potential members of this committee include Dr Robiul Islam, Professor Shanto Barua, KM Nur Alam Siddiki, and Rafiqul Islam.

DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said, “We have retrieved the CCTV footage, which has been submitted to the Shahbagh Police Station. The upcoming investigation committee will work in conjunction with the DB police to further probe this incident.”

This event has stirred controversy among student politicians. Dhaka University Chhatra Shibir President Abu Shadhik Kayem has accused the Chhatra League of orchestrating the act to create discord within current student politics.

In contrast, Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President GC Roy Shahosh declined to comment, stating, “We are focused on doing good for the students.”

Kayem has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, demanding accountability from the authorities.
