Copenhagen Fashion Week (CFW) takes place twice every year in January/February and August. This season’s CFW SS20 sets the tone for the upcoming 2020’s spring-summer fashion. Copenhagen Fashion Week hosts four days of shows from leading fashion houses and designers.
At the core of CFW is sustainability. Each season, CFW organizers strive to inspire designers, labels and the industry to move towards becoming more sustainable and eco-friendly.
The biggest names in Scandinavian fashion took to the runway to highlight the region’s unique aesthetic and sense of style. Below are the showstopper labels and designers in Copenhagen Fashion Week SS20.
Ganni
Ganni’s collection featured an unapologetic ‘70’s vibe, with cardigan vests worn over shirts with big collars and Ganni's must-have animal-print knee-high boots teamed with leather shorts and miniskirts. The label has become a household name in Scandinavia and a favourite among fashion's most stylish women.
Stine Goya
Stine Goya’s spring collection featured vibrant colours and decorations with hues ranging from green, yellow, orange, pink and blue. Prints were heavily featured with polka dots, ruffled mini dresses, florals and mismatched tights, while every model wore platform disco heels. The signature Goya look was a ballgown with bright floral motifs.
Brøgger
Designer for the label Julie Brøgger drew inspiration from the strong women of her childhood. She purposefully contrasted modern femininity with masculinity with oversized pleated organza slip dresses, layered over tailored trousers, while androgynous shirts were worn with delicate, ruched dresses. The collection was a nod to the power dressing of the 1980s businesswomen.
Holzweiler
The label is inspired by sports and athletic looks and featured simplistic, clean lines. Holzweiler focused on a utilitarian vibe, with a vision that adheres to traditional notions of minimalist Scandinavian style. The classic looks featured in the collection can be described as impactful, yet understated.
By Malene Birger
By Malene Birger's collection featured fabrics designed for glamourous summertime looks. The designs were heavily inspired by 1960s silhouettes, with detailed texture focusing on sophistication. Overall, the slightly undone Copenhagen look blended perfectly with classic silhouettes and made for the ideal summer wardrobe.
