Bangladesh registered four more deaths from Covid-19 and 674 newly infected in 24 hours till 8am Monday. This is the highest number of daily infections in the last 88 days.
The total number of deaths rose to 28,081 with addition of the latest figure.
The current positivity rate rose to 3.37 percent. The overall positivity rate stands at 13.75percent.
The new cases take the total number of people infected to 1,587,140, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country. Around 19,980 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.
Of the four deceased, one was male and three were females. One was within 61-70 years, one was between 71 and 80 age group, and two were 81 and 90 years old, according to the release.
Some 214 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,549,771 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.65 percent.
As of Monday, 5,462,030 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 290,759,134 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
