Farmers of Naogaon this year are hoping for a high yield this year due to favourable weather. District Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) is also going with the same prediction. Farmers are now expecting aid from authorities to store the paddy properly.
Agricultural department in Naogaon said that due to less infestation of insects and diseases, yield this year was more than they predicted. Farmers are already contacted them to take actions to get proper prices when paddy proclamation starts. Authorities are working on that, officials said.
Farmer Khalilur Rahman of Kaligram and other farmers like him said that Infestations were less seen this year though the amount of rain was not enough. Still they managed to get a good yield. If they can avoid storms and other natural calamities, a huge profit boost can be expected. They are rooting for a good weather till the end of the season.
Farmers of Naogaon district mentioned that price drops every when they are about to collect paddy from the field. Due to that, they have to face losses despite having good yield. They urge authorities to take pre-emptive actions this year to monitor the market so the paddy price stays stable.
Deputy Director of Naogaon DAE Shamsul Wadud said that officials are monitoring the progress of paddy cultivation. They are guiding farmers on tendering the fields and proper usages of fertilizers. They also informed authorities to monitor the market this year.
