Thundershowers with intense lightning flashes accompanied by rain and gusty wind swept over different parts of the country including capital Dhaka on Friday.
Heavy rain started just before 3 pm and continued intermittently the whole day and night in different parts of the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, 33 mm of rain was recorded in the capital from 3 pm to 4:15 pm on Friday. The maximum wind with hail storm at a speed of 83 km per hour lashed the capital city from 3:16 pm.
After three hours of heavy rain, waterlogging was created on different roads in Dhaka city, which caused traffic jam and transportation crisis in some places of the capital.

Rain accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to continue at different places in the country today (Saturday), according to the Meteorological Department forecast.
The regions are Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with hails at isolated places.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, said a met office bulletin Dhaka on Friday.
Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 35 degrees Celsius at Khulna and Mongla and today's minimum temperature 18.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Netrakona.
The sun set at 6.23 pm on Friday and rises at 5.31 am today (Saturday) in the capital.
