The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued new instructions to keep secondary schools open during the ongoing severe heat wave. Heads of educational institutions have been directed to implement various precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and teachers.

To protect health, schools are instructed to maintain constant communication with nearby health centers and provide necessary oral saline solutions. Daily school assemblies have been suspended until further notice. Classrooms should have all doors and windows open during activities to improve ventilation.

Electric fans and air-conditioning systems, where available, must be in working order. Schools are also required to ensure an adequate supply of clean drinking water, providing plenty for teachers, staff, and students.

Additionally, students and staff should avoid direct sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm. The directive emphasizes maintaining a permanent classroom arrangement for students to minimize movement and exposure to heat.

DSHE urges all public and private secondary schools and colleges to adhere strictly to these guidelines to safeguard the health of everyone during this extreme weather. This directive aims to keep educational activities uninterrupted while prioritizing the health and safety of the school community.
