Health rules ignored in Sreepur amid voters’ huge presence

The presiding officers had been given instructions to abide by the health rules in municipal elections.However, due to the large turnout of voters in the centers, it is not possible to accept the social distance at Sreepur municipality elections in Gazipur

The municipal elections were held in a festive and peaceful atmosphere.Ignoring the cold since morning, a large turnout of voters has been noticed.

Each center has more female voters than male voters. However, Voters have masks on but no social distance. Though many people thought that there is a risk of corona infection. 

Sreepur Government Pilot High School Center, Kewa (Mauna Chowrasta) Tamir Uddin Alim Madrasa Center, Mauna Multipurpose High School Center, Kewa (Koraitala) West Block Government Primary School Center and several other centers in the municipal area have been visited since morning.

Masud Ibn Mubarak, 40, a voter who came to cast his vote at Bairagirchala High School in Ward no. 4, said corona infection was on the rise in winter. Even though everyonein the lines wearing a mask, the social distance is not being observed at all.He thinks this will increase the risk of corona infection. 

Sumi Azad, another voter at Mauna Multipurpose High School Center, said many people came to vote. But the authorities are not taking any action to respect the social distance.

Returning Officer Istafizul Haque Akand said that the presiding officers were given instructions to abide by the health rules.However, due to the large turnout of voters in the centers, it is not possible to accept some social distance. 

He further added that the presiding officers have been instructed to take their votes even after the stipulated time of the voters present at the center even though it was late to take the vote due to social distance in Corona.
