Health Minister lays emphasis on South-South co-op

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, presided over the 39th executive committee and 27th board committee meeting of PPD at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka on Sunday.

PPD, an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to tackling demographic and developmental challenges among member states, hosted ministers and associate coordinators from 23 nations. The meetings were organised by the Government of Bangladesh.

Highlighting the importance of South-South cooperation, partnership, and technology transfer among member states, Dr Samanta Lal Sen emphasised the need for collaborative efforts to address emerging challenges.

"Our member countries must exchange best practices in reproductive health, population, and development to foster mutual learning and sustainable development for present and future generations," Dr Samanta Lal Sen stated.

Attending the meeting were also Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Rokeya Sultana, Md Azizur Rahman, Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department, Prof Mohamed Doagi, Secretary of PPD Board, Li Wei, Deputy Director General of China Health Commission, and ministerial-level representatives from Indonesia, Benin, Tunisia, and South Africa, alongside senior government officials.
