The High Court (HC) Sunday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not declare illegal the inaction in giving recognition and rehabilitate those who raised armed resistance after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order after holding primary hearing on a writ filed in this regard. The court also asked why it shall not pass an order to form a high-level committee or commission to do the job.
"The court asked the Law Secretary, the Home Secretary, the Liberation War Affairs Secretary, the Social Welfare Secretary and the Cultural Affairs Secretary to respond to the rule within four weeks," Advocate Md Bakir Uddin Bhuiyan, who moved the plea before the court, told BSS.
Deputy Attorney General Bipul Baghmar stood for the state during the hearing.
