The division bench of the High Court of Bangladesh ordered the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to remove the song ‘Nana Nati’ from YouTube after hearing a writ petition. The song contains a controversial line 'Bortomane Courte Bichar Chole Note', meant 'The current court's trial runs on the note'!

This decision was made by a division bench of the High Court after hearing a writ petition filed by Arifur Rahman Murad on Monday.

The song, known as 'Nana-Nati,' gained immense popularity during Eid and became the centre of controversy. Written and sung by Aly Hasan, the song used characters Nana and Nati to convey messages that stirred public discourse. Notably, poet and actor Marzuk Russell was also featured in the song as Nana.

Earlier, rapper Aly Hasan, known for his distinctive style in the Coke Studio Bangla hit "Ma Lo Ma," received a legal notice alleging contempt of court over a line in 'Nana-Nati' that referenced ongoing court proceedings.

The notice, issued by Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Fahim Hasnain of Sherpur District Judge Court, demanded an apology from Hasan within 15 days and the removal of the controversial line from the song.

The court's decision to order the removal of 'Nana-Nati' from YouTube follows concerns over potential contempt of court stemming from the song's lyrics.
