Hatia-Noakhali water route shut due to rough weather

Due to low pressure caused by monsoon, rough sea due to warning signal No. 3 and stormy weather, all routes including Nalchira-Chairmanghat of Dwip Upazila Hatia of Noakhali have been declared closed. All vessels have been ordered to stay close to shore until further notice.

The authorities have stopped boat traffic on the orders of the upazila administration since Friday morning. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salim Hossain confirmed the matter.

It has been reported that Meghna River and adjoining Bay of Bengal are rough under the influence of low pressure, local warning signal number 3 is on. It has been raining and strong winds in the Hatia Upazila since morning. Due to rain on one side and strong wind on the other hand, the river traffic has been temporarily stopped since morning due to the risk of crossing the river.

Hatia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salim Hossain confirmed the matter and said that because of the low pressure, the warning signal number 3 is currently running on the coast. The ban will remain in effect at the coast until further notice.
