The police administration in Jhenaidah had set up 32 close circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Hatgopalpur Bazar on Jhenaidah-Magura highway in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila.
The cameras were set up to ensure the safety and security of the businessmen and their enterprises. Superintendent of police (SP) Azim Ul Ahsan as the chief guest inaugurated the camera installation event at a local high school ground on Thursday.
It was presided over by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Shahin Uddin.
Additional Superintendents of Police (ASP) Imran Zakaria, ASP Mahidur Rahman and ASP Mir Abidur Rahman attended the programme as special guests. Jhenaidah press club general secretary Foysal Ahmed, eminent businessman Tapan Kumar Kundu among others were present at the event.
The organizers said about 500 business establishments including 50 rice husking and processing mills are running in the Bazar. To ensure their safety and security, the police administration was thinking to set up close circuit cameras so that the police could monitor the law and order situation in the area from local police outpost easily. The business community leaders and businessmen expressed their satisfaction over setting up the CCTV cameras.
