The Eid holidaymakers this year have been enjoying more hassle-free journey compared to the past years as no big tailback or road accidents have been reported so far.
Millions of people have already left the capital Dhaka for their village homes in phases to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.
The city dwellers started leaving the capital for their homes from Thursday afternoon.
There were huge rush of homebound people at all the bus and launch terminals and also at railway station, but passengers hardly faced any difficulties in managing tickets.
Some home-goers had to face tailback on Dhaka-Tangail Highway two days ago due to incomplete work on road construction, but the authorities solved the problem with immediate steps.
Most of the trains left Dhaka without delays and reached their destinations almost in time as well. Passengers of buses and launches also did not face any major sufferings.
Passengers on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway enjoyed a comfortable Eid journey without traffic congestion.
The 105-km road from Meghna Gumti Bridge toll plaza to Chouddagram Padua point, remained clear of tailbacks, according to Highway Police.
Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of Daudkandi Highway Police said that vehicles were moving smoothly. Bus stands in areas like Gouripur, Iliotganj, Madhaiya, Chandina, Nimsar, Cumilla Cantonment,
Alekharchar, Padua Bazar, Suagonj, Mia Bazar, and Chouddagram saw a large number vehicles, particularly private ones, moving slowly but steadily.
Meanwhile, a large number of holidaymakers have been thronging the Paturia-Daulatdia ferry ghats since Saturday morning to cross the river.
Despite heavy traffic, cattle-laden vehicles are crossing smoothly due to strict monitoring by law enforcement agencies.The number of ferries has been increased for Eid-ul-Azha.
The authorities concerned have taken steps to ensure a hassle-free journey for the people of 21 southeastern districts.
Deputy General Manager of BIWTC, Khaled Newaz, rsaid 20 ferries are operating on the route. Additional police are working to ensure smooth travel and prioritizing cattle-laden vehicles to reach their markets, said Superintendent of Manikganj Police Md Golam Azad.
With just one day left for Eid-ul-Azha, influx of people heading home was observed at Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday.
The station was overcrowded with passengers, many of whom were struggling to board trains, with some even climbing through windows.
