Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan has been appointed as chief of Bangladesh Air Force with a promotion to Air Marshal.
Hasan Mahmood Khan, who will succeed Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, will take over as the new BAF chief on June 11 and continue in the post for three years.
The Ministry of Defense has issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (May 26).
Air Vice Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan will be promoted to Air Marshal rank with effect from June 11, 2024 afternoon.
He will remain Air Chief for three years — from June 11, 2024 afternoon to June 10, 2027 afternoon.
Hasan Mahmood Khan is serving as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Planning). Before that, he served as Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of BAF Base Bangabandhu. He served as Officer Commanding of Airmen Training Institute from 9 July 2008 to 24 March 2009.
He also served as Bangladesh Air Force plans director while he was Air Commodore. He oversaw two important bilateral defence programmes -- the Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2022 with the Australian Defence Force and Exercise Cope South-2022 with the US Pacific Air Force.
