Handial College under Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna district is waiting for inclusion under MPO (Monthly Payment Order) for more than 23-year.

It is learnt, Handial Higher Secondary College was establised by some local enthusiasts and elites near Handial union parishad office in 1998. The college got the academic recognition in 2005. The number of College Code is-3279.

Though the teachers and other staff of the college have been performing their duties sincerely since its establishment, the college has not yet been included under Monthly Payment Order.

Already two former Principals of the college have died without getting a single penny as salary.

20 subjects are offered in Science, Humanities and Commerce groups in the colllege. Several thousand students have so far passed higher secondary classes from the college and are now working in various government and non-governmental institutions but getting no salary for more than 23-year, 32-teachers and staff of the college have been spending inhuman lives.

Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Lecturer of Islamic History informed, obtaining his Post Graduation degree from Islamic History in 1998, he joined to Handial College in 2001.

He said even after working as a Lecturer for more than 21-year, he got no salary as the college has not been included under government MPO.

Lecturer Abu Hena lamented that students passing from this college are engaged in various government and non-government institutions but the teachers themselves of the college are deprived from getting any salary and allowances.

He further said, they don't know what is the joy of getting salaries after months of toil. We even fail to give our family members the minimum joy during any festival. We are leading inhuman lives.

After passing his MA in Philosophy from the University of Rajshahi in 1995, Abdul Khaleque joined as a Lecturer of Logic in the college in 1999.

He said, he thought, after joining the college, he will face no financial hardship because he would get his salaries regularly under MPOs. But, now he is utterly disappointed as all other teachers and staff of the college.

He added, only God knows how hard it is to maintain a four-member family without any salary for more than two decades. All the teachers and staff of the college have demanded to include their college under MPO.

Mohsin Alam, Principal of the college informed, 32 teachers and staff of the college has been working sincerely without any salary for nearly a quarter century.

He further informed, at present 310 students are studying in the first year and in the second year. Already many students have passed their HSC examinations from this college.

In 2019 a total of 69 students appeared in HSC examinations from the college out of who 47 came out successful while in 2020, 47 students appeared in HSC examinations from the college and all of them came out successful while 75 students are appearing in the HSC examinations this year.

He said, he has appealed again and again to the concerned ministry for the inclusion of the college under MPO but even after good results of the students, the college is not being included under MPO for a long time.

As a result, we are spending our time with unimaginable hardship. He appealed to the higher authorities for the inclusion of the college under MPO.

Mugreb Ali, Secondary Education Officer of Chatmohar informed the college has been contributing positively for the expansion of education in the area.

It is pity that the teachers and staff of the college are not getting their salaries for a long time even after a sincerely assigning of their duties for more than 23-year, he added.

Rabiul Karim, President of Governing Body of the college informed, the teachers and staff of the college are working sincerely for more than two decades without any salary.

However, with not getting any payment, they are spending an inhuman life. The college should be included under MPO as soon as possible, he added.
