Published : 06 Feb 2024 09:19 PM

The eagerly awaited 2024 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are set to kick off on February 15, starting with the Bengali 1st paper. With the routine outlined by the education board, the exams will draw to a close on March 12 of the same year, followed by practical exams scheduled from March 13 to March 20.

This year, a total of 20,24,192 candidates will participate across 11 education boards, reflecting a decrease of 47,971 examinees compared to the previous year's figures. Among them, male candidates have decreased by 28,319, while female candidates have decreased by 19,652.

The examination will be conducted across 3700 centers in 29,735 educational institutions, marking a slight reduction from last year's numbers with 180 fewer examination centers and 63 fewer participating educational institutions.

In a bid to ensure a fair and rumor-free environment, all coaching centers will remain closed from February 13 to March 12, coinciding with the examination period.

Stringent guidelines have been issued by the Education Board to SSC candidates, emphasizing punctuality, adherence to exam schedules, and strict regulations regarding mobile phone and electronic device usage within examination centers. Among the key instructions are:

Candidates must arrive at the examination center 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Examinations should be conducted according to the time specified in the question papers.

Admit cards must be collected three days prior to the examination.

The use of mobile phones and unauthorized electronic devices is strictly prohibited, except for the center secretary.

Multiple-choice and creative/theoretical tests will be held consecutively without breaks.

Candidates must ensure accurate completion of the OMR form and refrain from folding answer sheets.

Participation in exams is limited to the subjects specified in the registration form.

Practical examinations will not be held in the candidate's own school or institution.

General scientific calculators are permitted for use during exams.

Additionally, provisions for re-auditing applications have been made available online within 7 days of the publication of exam results.

With these comprehensive guidelines in place, authorities aim to maintain the integrity and smooth conduct of the SSC examinations, ensuring a fair assessment for all candidates.
