Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) will work with members of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) to ensure road safety in Chattogram metropolis.
A delegation of Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) met with CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy on recently. Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) Asia-Pacific Region Advisor Al Stewart, Vital Strategies Program Officer Suganthi Saravanan, BIGRS Dhaka City Coordinator and former Additional Secretary Abdul Wadud, BIGRS Chattogram City Consultants were present in the meeting.
CMP Additional Police Commissioner MA Masud, Additional Police Commissioner ASM Mahtab Uddin and other senior officials were present.
Al Stewart said, training workshops will be organized in Chattogram to increase the skills of CMP members to ensure road safety. The experience of traffic management of different cities of the world will be exchanged this workshop. Policemen can gain practical knowledge on road safety, collision investigation, speed control, use of artificial intelligence etc. CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said, coordination between responsible partners in road infrastructure development and road management to ensure road safety. It is important to increase the awareness of pedestrians and drivers. The workshop will be organized by GRSP under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
BIGRS works to reduce accidental deaths by ensuring road safety in more than 30 cities around the world. The organization is providing technical assistance to Dhaka North City Corporation and Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) to ensure safe roads.
The objective of this program is to strengthen enforcement of traffic laws on roads, improve road design, infrastructure, collect accurate data on road-collision and promote public awareness and campaign.
