Supradip Chakma, adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, has said the government wants to work together by strengthening harmony, peace and amity among people of all communities in the country.

He made this remark while speaking at the traditional Nabanna Festival-2024, celebrated during the harvest season in November and December, of Garo Community at Banani Model School and College grounds in the capital on Friday.

Supradip Chakma said, “We want to preserve and cherish our manner, behaviour, dress, culture, heritage and traditions.”

Wangala is a cultural festival celebrated at every harvesting period in late autumn by the Garo ethnic through offerings and worship to seek blessings of God for rich harvest.

The worship of this festival is to overcome all diseases so the next year's harvest will be more productive, and everyone will become prosperous and remain peaceful.

Garo artists performed “Zum Nritya” and other traditional cultural events clad in their traditional costumes.

The Wangala Celebration Committee set up various stalls at the Banani College grounds to sell traditional food, handicrafts, clothing and various souvenirs of the Garo community.
