The critical shortage of teachers in more than 35,000 MPO-affiliated educational institutions will be addressed by a massive recruitment drive, as announced by the Non-Government Teachers' Registration & Certification Authority (NTRCA).
The fifth phase of the private teacher recruitment cycle begins with this initiative, and it is expected to recruit about 50,000 new teachers.
According to NTRCA officials, next week will mark the start of the e-registration process for new MPO-affiliated educational institutions as well as the updating of current ones. NTRCA is in charge of choosing and endorsing candidates for entry-level jobs in private educational establishments.
This activity is scheduled to begin on January 30, January 31, or February 1. The officials were hopeful that the fifth public notification for teacher appointments would be released by mid-year or before June, but they did not provide a specific date for its release. Before the notification is sent out, though, it is thought to be essential that the e-registration, vacancy information gathering, and verification procedures be completed successfully.
The e-registration preparations were clarified by a recent meeting between representatives from Teletalk, a technical support organization, and NTRCA officials. Officials from the NTRCA affirmed that Teletalk had created software for electronic registration and e-requisition after the meeting.
Nonetheless, disparities persist in the hiring practices of different academic establishments across the country, which the software has not yet tackled. It is Teletalk's responsibility to quickly resolve these problems.
E-registration should start next week, according to NTRCA Secretary Obaidur Rahman, provided Teletalk finishes up its software preparations.
It is necessary to gather up-to-date job opening data in advance of the hiring process, especially from recently affiliated private universities. In order to provide information about openings, these institutions must e-register, and already-existing institutions will update their records accordingly.
The fifth notification to the public will be sent out once the information about the vacancy has been gathered and verified. It is anticipated by NTRCA officials that the new teacher hiring process will be completed by the middle or end of the current school year.
The fourth public notification of the previous recruitment cycle, which began in May 2022, resulted in the selection of 32,500 candidates for teaching positions. But by September of the following year, only 27,000 candidates had received final recommendations, meaning that many positions remained unfilled.
According to the most recent data, there are still more than 68,000 vacant teaching positions. This number could rise as a result of retirements that took place between October 2022 and January 2024.
Due to a teacher shortage, private schools are forced to adopt the new curriculum in the absence of sufficient staff. The issue still exists, even after 27,000 new teachers were hired in the last cycle. It especially affects the introduction of new curricula in upper grades. Because of the ongoing teacher shortage, headmasters report that teaching activities are constantly disrupted.
