The government will review planned investments in 10 Minute School (10MS) and other startups, according to announcements made by Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Advisor Nahid Islam.
This decision follows backlash from the Awami League government against startups that supported student protests for quota reform.
Addressing ICT Division officials in Agargaon on Monday, Nahid Islam condemned the previous adverse treatment of these startups and the suspension of their funding. He assured that new discussions with these companies will be initiated to address their concerns and explore potential future investments.
The reassessment comes after Startup Bangladesh Limited, the government's venture capital fund, retracted its planned investment of Tk 5 crore in 10 Minute School, Bangladesh's leading edtech platform.
This withdrawal, announced in mid-July, followed a Facebook post by Ayman Sadiq, 10MS’s co-founder and CEO, in which he supported the student movement advocating for quota reforms in government jobs.
