State minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura said these things as the chief guest while addressing a day-long workshop on the status of implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Chittagong Hill Tracts organized by Partnership for Resilient Livelihoods (PRLC) and UNDP at Tourism Motel Conference Hall at Khagrachari district headquarters on Sunday.The State Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina loves the people of Chittagong Hill Tracts and has given instructions to the concerned to ensure the protection of hill resources and their fair use for the betterment of the hill dwellers. The government is working towards the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of the products produced in the forests, wetlands, hills and dry lands of the hilly areas.
He said to the concerned that the monitoring system should be continued to see if the basic service programs are being properly implemented to improve the quality of life of the hill communities.
The workshop highlighted the implementation of satisfactory progress in ensuring the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and the benefits derived from them in forests, wetlands, hills and drylands in hilly areas.
Among others, UNDP Additional Secretary (retd) Deep Chakraborty, UNDP Rangamati Program Officer Shishu Priya Tripura, Khagrachari Hill District Executive Officer Titon Khisa, Khagrachari District Additional District Commissioner Rumana Akhter, Khagrachari District Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin was present.
