Govt to distribute Tk 10.32cr stimuli among 83,860 farmers in Khulna

The Government will distribute special incentives worth about Tk 10.32 crore among 83,860 small and marginal farmers in Khulna during the current Robi crop season in 2023-24 FY.

Each farmer will get an incentive against one Bigha (33 decimals) land to enhance the Robi crop production during the current season, official sources informed this on Thursday.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of Khulna Zone has been preparing a list of farmers in the region to distribute the incentives. 

Officials of the DAE said the incentives for purchasing seed and fertilizer, will be distributed among the beneficiary farmers to assist them in cultivating eight varieties of crop during the current Robi season in the 2023-24 FY.

Of those, distribution of Agri incentives to the farmers of wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, onion, lentil and kesari farming will be completed by this month, said Mohon Kumar Ghosh, Additional Director of the DAE Khulna. 

In Khulna, a total of 31,020 farmers will get seed and fertilizer worth Tk 4.69 crore, in Bagerhat 12,640 farmers will get Tk 2.25 crore, in Satkhira 20,940 farmers to get Tk 1.67 crore, in Narail 19,260 farmers will get Tk 1.71 crore respectively.

Under the programme, each beneficiary will receive one to 20 kgs of seed of different crops, 10 to 20 kgs of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and five to 10 kgs of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertiliser free of cost to cultivate crop on one Bigha of land.

Incentives worth about Tk 10.32 crore will be distributed among 83,860 small and marginal farmers of Khulna to assist them farming. One farmer will get seeds and fertiliser worth about Tk 1,230 for one Bigha land.

Besides, a total of 81,00 farmers will get Tk 505.85 lakh with a view to increasing cultivation of Boro paddy (Hybrid) in the current Robi season of 2023-24 FY. 

Another report adds from Lakshimpur:  A total of 4,120 small and marginal farmers in Sadarupazila of the  Lakshmipur were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal in the Rabi season.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) SuraiyaJahan handed over the the seeds and fertilizers to the farmers as the chief guest at a function at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium Thursday with UNO Arifur Rahman in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Akter Hossain Shahin, Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Salah Uddin Tipu, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Hasan Imam were present as the special guests.

Agricultural officers of the Upazila Administration, chairmen and members of various union parishads and benefited farmers, among others, were present.

To increase the interest of farmers in wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Hasan Imam said.

He said that each farmer was given wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for Rabi crops cultivation on one bigha of land.
