Educatoin Minister Dr Dipu Moni said education will be a mega project of the country in the coming days and the government is giving utmost importance to this sector.
She made the remarks at the results announcement programme of HSC and equivalent examinations at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Sunday.
The Education Minister said, “The education system of the country is moving forward following the philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It is very important to change our mindset about technical education. All the developed countries have given importance to technical education, research and innovation and therefore, those countries have achieved prosperity.”
She also mentioned bringing about a major change in the field of higher education.
“Career-oriented education is essential for students to get prepared according to the need of the working world. Higher education institutions must focus on research and innovation, and be engaged in the creation of new knowledge. Sheikh Hasina's government will be involved in all kinds of efforts to improve the quality of education and will give full support,” she said.
She further said that work is underway to formulate a national policy on blended education keeping in view the global realities.
“We are working towards the goal that our students will become proficient in innovation using science and technology. We want to reach our desired goal by tackling the challenge of the 4th industrial revolution and successfully utilizing all its possibilities,” she added.
She mentioned that, “Although we are still investing less than 3 percent of the GDP, we want to achieve the international targets of 2041 and 2100. However, the current budget of education is more than the national budget given by Sheikh Hasina's government in 2009. I believe that education will be the mega project of Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in the coming days.”
She called upon the students to develop as global citizens in terms of skills and qualifications.
