Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a peaceful environment on campuses nationwide. Speaking at a seminar at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday, Alam highlighted the importance of ensuring educational institutions remain safe spaces, free from violence and political exploitation.
“Our government is making efforts to maintain peace, and whoever takes office in the future must continue this commitment,” he stated. Alam underlined the necessity of preserving campus environments where students can focus on their studies, enhancing their global competitiveness.
In his address, Alam criticized the activities of the banned student wing of Bangladesh Awami League, saying its influence created adverse impacts within society. He stated, "People do not want to see another monster in society. Our government is committed to providing a safe environment in educational institutions.”
Alam explained that many individuals joined the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) merely to secure jobs, resulting in a biased recruitment system. “There has been silent discrimination within the job sector, which needs to be addressed,” he added.
He further criticized the banned BCL’s stance against student movements, stating that they acted as “foot-soldiers of fascism,” obstructing students’ rights and creating divisions.
Alam’s remarks highlighted the government’s stance on campus safety and its determination to prevent any form of political influence or violence in educational spaces, ensuring students have an environment conducive to learning.
