Published : 29 Feb 2024 09:08 PM

In a bid to support indigent and meritorious students facing financial burdens due to accidents, the Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust has initiated a grant program offering assistance ranging from Tk 10,000 to Tk 50,000. This aid aims to alleviate the medical expenses incurred by students from the sixth grade to graduation and equivalent levels who are undergoing treatment following accidents.

The application process for these grants, which are part of the government's welfare initiatives, is currently open until February 29th for the January-February period of the financial year 2023-24. Through an online platform, eligible students can submit their applications, seeking financial support during their medical treatment.

Published notifications outline the criteria for eligibility, emphasizing that the grant is specifically targeted at students who are both economically disadvantaged and academically talented, and who have sustained serious injuries in accidents. This initiative aligns with the 'One-time financial grant guidelines for students seriously injured in accidents, 2020', established by the Prime Minister's Educational Assistance Trust.

To access the application portal, students can visit the provided link, where they can submit their requests for financial aid. Importantly, students who have suffered severe injuries in accidents are allowed to apply every two months, with each application covering a one-time medical grant.

However, it's crucial to note that each student is eligible to receive this medical grant only once during their medical treatment period. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to utilize this opportunity effectively to mitigate the financial burdens associated with their medical care.

The deadline for applications for the January-February period of the financial year 2023-24 is set for February 29th, with the submission window closing at 11:59 PM. By adhering to the prescribed guidelines and utilizing the online platform, eligible students can access much-needed financial assistance to aid in their recovery and ensure continued access to education.

This initiative underscores the government's commitment to providing support and opportunities for vulnerable segments of society, particularly in times of need, fostering a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.
