Shahida Sultana, Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj has donated Tk 5 lakh to the Haishur Old Home, established in 1996 at the personal initiative of Ashutosh Biswas and his wife Monika Rani Bose, who have been engaged in humanitarian service for a long time.
The Deputy Commissioner handed over the cheque to Ashutosh Biswas, the founder of Haishur Old Home and his wife Monika Rani, in compliance with hygiene rules in the conference room of Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner on Monday. 23 helpless old people who are neglected in their family and society are living in this old home as of now.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Iliasur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Usman Gani, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md. Iqbal Hossain, Kashiani Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rathindra Nath Roy, NDC Milon Saha, and other administration officials and employees were present during this time along with the media workers.
After handing over the cheque, DC Shahida Sultana said that the initiative has been taken keeping in mind the neglected, oppressed and financially weak elderly people of the society. She called upon the people of the society to come forward and stand by the helpless people of old home.
