Goods movement stopped at Chattogram port

Chattogram PortAuthority haslaunched four control rooms to prevent the possible impact and damage of cyclone Mochs. Besides, themovement of goods at the port is stopped due to the ships being sent to outer anchorage. Meanwhile, Shah Amanat Airport authorities have stopped all flights until furtherinstructionsin the 8th emergency signal. According to Chattogram port sources, the control room has been launched from the four departments of the port i.e. marine, security, traffic, secretary department. Chattogram PortAuthority Secretary Omar Faruq said these decisions were taken in the Cyclone Preparation Meeting held at the PortBuilding. Since the Meteorological Department has called for distress signal number 8, the highest alert or 'Alert-Four' has been issued at the port on Friday night. Control room has been opened. Meanwhile, Chattogram Shah Amanat Airport Authority has stopped allflightsfrom Friday night untilfurther notice after the Meteorological Office issued a distress signal. ShahAmanatAirport Director Wing CommanderTaslimAhmed said, in view of the Meteorological Department's No. 8 emergency signal, it has been decided to stop international and domestic flights at Shah Amanat International Airport from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM today. According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department on Saturday morning, the center of very strong cyclone Mocha, located in the eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, is moving north-northeast and staying in the same area. Mocha was 815 km south and southwest of Chattogram sea port, 745 km south and southwest of Cox's Bazarsea port, 785 km south of Mongla sea port and 745 km south of Payra sea port at 6 am on Saturday.
