Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam has said that the people of Bangladesh have fought many movements, fought and given their lives to establish human rights and fair rights.
“For which we suffer a lot. Bengalis have never compromised on their rights even though they have been wounded a lot. Today’s Bangladesh is proud of people all over the world for not compromising. Today, the global community says Bangladesh is a case study for developing countries,” he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of a book named ‘Human Rights Situation of the World’ written by Begum Rokeya Medalist Professor Advocate Kamrun Nahar Begum on the human rights situation of 22 countries of the world.
The ceremony was held at the Jamal Khansth Seniors Club in Chattogram city on Saturday. Chattogram District and Sessions Judge Dr. Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan spoke as a special guest in the programme with former president of Bangladesh Bar Council Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul in the chair.
Md Tajul Islam said, “Pakistanis used to exploit us, raped our mothers and sisters, burnt our houses. They killed people mercilessly. Then the Bangladeshis said 'Joy Bangla'. Saying 'Joy Bangla' we faced the Pakistanis.
Joy Bangla is the slogan of my birth, the slogan of our freedom, the slogan of our hearts. Are those who are ashamed to say 'Joy Bangla' and proud to say 'Zindabad' looking for an opportunity to show disrespect to the three million martyrs of our freedom or are they acknowledging the rape of our mothers and sisters? I leave this question to you.”
He also said that Shah MS Kibria, Ahsan Ullah Master and others were killed when those who talk about human rights and democracy today were in power. On August 21, a grenade attack killed many Awami League leaders and attempted to kill today's Prime Minister. What was their democracy and human rights - asked the LGRD minister.
LGRD Minister Tajul Islam said, "Today, when the war is going on in Palestine, I was not told about human rights." When no one could be found to speak up for oppressed people around the world, the book 'The State of Human Rights in the World' was unveiled. Findings This book has recorded many creativity and creativity of human rights.
He said, the author of this book Prof. Advocate Kamrun Nahar Begum is a proud mother of a proud child like our Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud. We will certainly get many directions in the book written by him about the human rights situation of 22 countries of the world. Based on the author's experience and knowledge, this book will give us an opportunity to do something new.
