Like the past three years, girls have once again outperformed boys in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, achieving both a higher pass rate and a greater number of GPA-5 achievers.
Analysing the results from the last three years, along with this year’s data, reveals that girls are ahead in both pass rates and GPA-5 achievement.
Across all boards, a total of 6,65,045 girls sat for the HSC, while the number was 6,66,013 for boys. 5,31,714 girls passed this year’s HSC, as opposed to 5,03,595 boys.The HSC results published yesterday show that the pass rate for girls in the nine general education boards is 78.27 per cent, while it stands at 72.55 per cent for boys.
Across all boards, including madrasa and technical boards, girls’ pass rate is 79.95, whereas boys' pass rate is 75.61.
This year, 1,45,911 students achieved the GPA-5 (the highest grade point average). A total of 80,933 girls secured a GPA-5 this year across all boards, compared to 64,978 boys.
The results showed that girls passed at a rate 4.34 per cent higher than boys, with 15,955 more female students securing a GPA-5.
This year, 13,31,058 students took the exams across 2,695 centres under 11 education boards. Among them, 10,35,309 students passed, with an overall pass rate of 77.78 per cent.
According to the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, since 2020, female students have consistently outperformed male students in both pass rates and GPA-5 achievement.
For 15 years in a row, girls have outperformed boys in terms of pass rate in Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams.
