Mubarak Hossain, a farmer from Ikori village of Baraigram in Natore, was allegedly killed on the instructions of his girlfriend Arifa on June 15.
Police have arrested three other lovers of Arifa along with her, involved in the murder within 48 hours.
Natore Superintendent of Police Liton Kumar Saha confirmed the news at a press briefing on Friday afternoon.
Liton Kumar Saha said that, Mubarak Hossain, 38, son of late Khair Uddin of Ikori village in Baraigram upazila was strangled to death. Rani Begum, wife of the deceased, filed a case in this regard.
After talking to locals, police detained Arifa Begum, wife of Kachu Kha of Shonabaju village. During police interrogation, Arifa confessed that she was involved in the murder along with her three other lovers, Rashid Pramanik, 38, of Sonabaju village, Jihad Ali, 32, of the same village and Asadul Islam, 35, of Ikori village.
The SP said Arifa was the mastermind of the murder. She used to extort money from all four of her lovers. Mubarak leaked the news of Arifa's relationship with him and others and getting angry Arifa planned his murder with her other three lovers.
On the day of the incident, when Mubarak taking a cow to grazing Arifa Begum called Mubarak to a nearby jute field where the others killed him.
