A mentally retarded young girl was raped and became pregnant allegedly by a rapist at Baksara village under Paba upazila recently. As against a case filed in this connection, the police of Paba Police station arrested the alleged rapist Nuruzzaman (37) son of Zillur Rahman from his house on the early morning of Tuesday.
Police informed, arrested Nuruzzaman took the mentally retarded young girl to her house some six months ago and raped her. As a result, the girl got conceived and she is now pregnant for several months. Later, the family members of the girl quizzed her and she disclosed the name of Nuruzzaman of raping her. As a result, the father of the victim girl filed a case with Paba police station accusing Nuruzzaman on Monday. Police arrested him Tuesday. Father of the mentally retarded rape victim demanded justice of the incident.
Officer-in-charge of Paba police station Sheikh Golam Mostafa informed police were able to arrest the accused as soon as the case has been filed. Legal action has been taken against him and the victim has been sent to One Stop Crisis Centre of RMCH for the medical testing.
