Following a fight with her mother over purchasing ear rings at Ulipur Upazaila of Kurigram's Swarpadi area under Daldalia Union on Saturday, a young girl killed herself by hanging herself with her scarf.
The deceased was identified as Rashida Khatun, 15, daughter of late Rashedul Islam, resident of Swarpadi area of the Upazila.
The Police said Rashida was a student of class 8 in Daldalia Girl High School. She was asking her mother to buy her a pair of ear rings for a few days. On Saturday morning, she asked her mother again to buy her a pair of ear rings and her mother scolded her because of that. She was angry and saddened by that and shut herself in her room. After that, she hanged herself from the frames of the ceiling with her scarf.
Officer-in-Charge of Ulipaur Police Sation Golam Mortuja confirmed the matter. He said that as there is no complaint from the family regarding this incident, an unnatural death case has been filed and permission has been granted for her funeral.
