Gayeshwar urges interim govt to hold nat’l polls within logical timeframe

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Thursday urged the interim government to hold the national elections within logical timeframe.

He made the call while addressing as the chief guest a discussion on “Interim government and political parties’ responsibility in the current country’s contest” organized by Jagrato Bangladesh at Jatiya Press Club. 

Gayeshwar said the July uprising’s main dictum is that the people will elect their representatives through a free, fair and neutral election to constitute a parliament and government to prove that the people are the owner of the country, BSS reports. 

 “We understand how much time is needed for an election and we will give that time,” said the BNP leader.

Gayeshwar also urged the party men to remain alert so that any constitutional crisis is not created in the country. 

Jagrata Bangladesh President Jahirul Islam Kalim chaired the discussion while BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council Members Abdus Salam and Habibur Rahman Habib, executive committee member Alamgir Hossain, Jagrata Bangladesh General Secretary Syed Mozammel Hossain Shahin also spoke,
