Fujian looks forward to forging ahead win-win cooperation with foreign countries within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), said Zhang Yan, member of the standing committee and head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fujian provincial committee on Saturday evening.
He was talking to a visiting delegation of foreign diplomats and journalists based in Beijing, Xiamen, and Guangzhou at the Westin Hotel in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province of China.
The delegation includes diplomats from Sri Lanka, Solomon Island, Fiji, Singapore, and Thailand and journalists from Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, Pakistan, Turkey, Germany, and China.
Zhang Yan hoped that envoys and media friends would come to Fujian frequently to put forward more valuable suggestions for future development cooperation.
They will share the wisdom and experiences of countries, learn from each other, and work together to promote the high-quality development of the BRI, he expected.
“We will continue to invite ambassadors and industry figures from various countries to come to Fujian to experience the colorful culture and discuss economic and trade cooperation,” he added.
“We will also forge ahead our cooperative dissemination with media friends from various countries so that the world can better understand China and Fujian,” he further added.
The head of the provincial publicity department said that Fujian will continue to promote international people-to-people and cultural exchanges in the coming days.
He pointed out that today, when the future and destiny of various countries are closely linked, the inclusive coexistence and exchange of different civilizations play an irreplaceable role in promoting the modernization process of human society and prospering global civilization.
He mentioned that Fujian is well-connected to the rest of the world as more than 15.8 million Fujian Chinese people now live in 188 countries and regions across the globe.
He further mentioned Fujian is a culturally rich region with a long history and profound cultural heritage. As early as 5000 years ago, our ancestors created the ancient Tanshishan culture here.
Zhang Yan went on to say that in its historical development, Fujian has not only preserved the profound culture of the Central Plains but also inherited the ancient charm of the Minyue culture.
He also noted that Fujian has also disseminated the diverse and colorful marine culture, breeding a rich and colorful characteristic culture. Since modern times, the province has become a window for China's opening up and a frontier for the intersection of Chinese and foreign cultures.
For a long time, relying on characteristic cultural resources, Fujian has carried out rich and diverse international cultural and cultural exchanges, promoting the joint inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture and the cultures of various ethnic groups in the world, he maintained.
It may be noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which was first put forward by President Xi Jinping in 2013.
As an important starting point and the birthplace of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Fujian is also the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
With its rich historical and cultural resources, Fujian has left a lot of collective memories of the Maritime Silk Road in the world.
