Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a warranted fugitive war crimes suspect from Uttara area in the capital on Wednesday.
Deputy Director of RAB-10 Aminul Islam disclosed the information on Thursday.
He said that the arrestee is Md Abul Khair, 70, son of Dana Mia from Char Fakira village under Companigonj police station of Noakhali District.
The official said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-10 in a drive arrested Abul Khair around 2pm on Wednesday from Sector-14 of Uttara in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, a case was filed against Khair at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on November 12 in 2017.
On December 5, 2021, ICT issued an arrest warrant against Khair for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
RAB Deputy Director said during the preliminary interrogation, the detainee admitted that he had been hiding in various parts of the country under disguise.
The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned tribunal on Thursday, he added.
