Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to death for killing a student in Pirojpur in 2013, from the Cantonment Police Station area of the capital on Tuesday.
The arrestee was Nazmul Hasan Naeem, 39, son of M Shafiqul Alam Hawlader, a resident of Indurkani Police Station in Pirojpur district.
Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-2 Shihab Karim said that acting on tip-off, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive in the area and arrested the man.
The official said according to the case documents, Sadman Sakib Prince, 14, a student of class 10 at Pirojpur Government Technical School and College, was killed over a fight regarded to playing cricket.
Later, being informed by locals, police recovered the body from a pond and sent it to hospital for autopsy.
Two days after the incident, victim's father filed a murder case with Pirojpur Sadar Police Station against some unidentified accused.
