Chattogram Metropolitan police arrested a life-term fugitive convict in the city's Asadganj area on Saturday , 14 years after verdict.
The arrested was identified as Md Nurunnabi hailed from Jummapara of Rangpur district.
He was convicted over a murder that took place on August 20, 2008 in Rangpur, said Mehidi Hasan, sub-inspector of Kotwali police station. But he went into hiding after the filing of the murder case.
Later, a Rangpur court in absentia awarded him life-term imprisonment and fined Tk 20,000, in default, he would have to serve six months more in jail.
He will hand over to respective police station for further legal action, the SI added.
