Former MP and central executive committee member of BNP Shahiduzzaman Beltu passed away at Jhenaidah 250-bed general hospital on Monday midnight. He was 78.
Beltu was suffering from various diseases for a long. He felt sick in the midnight of Monday and taken to Jhenaidah 250-bed general hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead.
Attorney general Advocate Asaduzzaman, BNP Khulna divisional unit organizing secretary Anindya Islam Amit, Jayanta Kumar Kundu, Jhenaidah district unit president Abdul Majid among others condoled on the death of Beltu.
Born at village Dhopadi in Kaliganj, Beltu started his political carrier with Bangladesh Chhatra Union and later joined the Jatiya Party led by former president HM Ershad. After fall of the Ershad government, he joined Bangladesh nationalist Party (BNP) and was elected as the MP from Jhenaidah -4 constituency comprised with Kaliganj and part of Jhenaidah sadar upazila in 1991. He was elected as an MP for four consecutive terms with BNP.
He was the president of Kaliganj thana unit BNP and vice president of Jhenaidah district unit. He was the member of party’s central executive committee until his death. The fist namaz-e-janaza of the MP was held at Wazir Ali high school and college ground at 11.00am on Tuesday.
